Harry Kane Sends England To Russia 2018 World Cup With A Late Goal Against Slovenia

Tottenham striker, Harry Kane sent England to Russia 2018 World Cup on Thursday night with a late goal against Slovenia.

The Three Lions’ captain for the game, who scored 13 goals for Tottenham and England last month, proved lethal up front yet again to steer Kyle Walker’s cross from close range into the net on the 90th minute to end the game 1-0 in favour of Gareth Southgate’s tutored side.

The development is coming after the Spurs striker had told Standard Sport earlier in the day that captaining the national side on the day they qualified for a World Cup would be one of the best nights of his career and his dream came true.

“Got there in the end but that’s all that matters. We had to be patient. Patient,” Harry Kane said after the game.

Speaking after the game, England coach, Gareth Southgate said: “We played a team who have conceded only four goals. They’ve defended resolutely, we weren’t as sharp as we would hope to be but we stuck at it and it’s not a coincidence that we scored a  lot of late goals. We knew they had to win and had to come on to you. This is a young team and still learning all the time.

“Nights like this are not straightforward. Hart’s experience came through. Big saves at crucial times. We’re through to the World Cup and for the country that’s good. We have potential but we have a lot of work to do. Now we build and see where we can improve all the time”, he said.

England goalkeeper, Joe Hart said after the game:  “We’ve worn them down. Boys were brilliant out there. It’s hard for the crowd but it is difficult, It’s important we mile. England has qualified for a World Cup and that’s amazing. [Critics?] Do you think I care what they say? Think I listen to them? I listen to the boys in the dressing room. They’ve got my back and I’ve got theirs”, Hart added.
