Nigeria AT 57: Buhari Urged To Fulfil Campaign Promises

As Nigeria marks her 57th independence anniversary, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Abayomi Mumuni has called on the president, Mohammadu Buhari to fulfill promises he made during his campaign.

While congratulating Nigerians on the occasion, Mumuni, in a statement, urged the president to use the remainder of his tenure in fulfilling the promises he made to Nigerians, some of which are provision of basic amenities such as good roads, quality healthcare and abundant food for the masses.

“While Mr. President’s efforts in the war against terrorism and corruption are commended, he should use the remainder of his tenure to provide basic amenities, including good roads, quality healthcare and abundant foods for the masses”, he said.

Mumuni who is a renowned security expert said the fact that the country is not in a state of war is a thing of joy for him and millions of Nigerians.

His words: “I rejoice with all Nigerians on the peaceful Independence celebration. What would have happened today if the Arewa youth had carried out their “Igbo-must-go” October 1st threat? What would have happened to our unity if the Biafra agitators had succeeded in breaking away from Nigeria? We would have been in a state of war, and war doesn’t solve problems but dialogue does”.

He also commended President Buhari for his timely intervention in the Biafra agitations, adding that there is still more to do in addressing the plight of the agitators and making life comfortable for all Nigerians.

“The Buhari I know is a truthful man. He has good intentions for Nigeria. I contested in the Lagos Gubernatorial election in 2011 under his party, the defunct Congress for Political Change (CPC) before the merger with Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other political parties, which led to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC)”, he said.
